The Wednesday Writing Tip: A Baudelaire Afternoon

by: Daniel Dissinger

This week’s Writing Tip is really challenging and creative.  From the mind of Aimee Herman; be a flaneur and explore the
world as a collection of seamless sensations!  Be aware, and risk getting lost:

Take yourself out with notebook and ink to a place you have never been. This could be a park or neighborhood you have yet to discover. Blink only when necessary, taking in the senses around you. Be a flaneur, arriving at your words as you digest the smells, sounds and sensations around you. Take a long walk and create a map of what you see beside you: napkin with spots of blood, tumbleweed of dark hair, corpses of cigarettes, scratched off lottery tickets…….

See what arrives on your page.

Poetry Teachers NYC is interested in featuring work inspired by these Writing Tips.  So, send us your work with a brief description of your journey, a picture of yourself (or from the writing period), and a brief bio.  Be Part of the Art!
